Mark Gillies, VW Group of America’s director of public relations, told PC Mag, “We get access to the network in June/July, when we have an official VW adapter.” The publication previously reported that things would kick off in March, but revised that projection after hearing from Gillies.
The price of the VW adapter remains uncertain, and it's unclear if there will be any hold-ups, similar to those experienced by other manufacturers like Ford. Volkswagen is now aligning itself with nearly all other leading automakers in adopting the Tesla charging standard. Presently, vehicles from brands such as Ford, Nissan, and GM need an adapter to access Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), although some have committed to delivering vehicles equipped with NACS ports in the near future.

Tesla's Supercharger network stands out as one of its most significant innovations, providing an exceptional user experience and a generally more reliable service compared to numerous third-party charging providers. However, it's important to note that in certain areas, Tesla charging stations are already experiencing high traffic, and the introduction of thousands of additional electric vehicles will likely create further challenges for current users.
