General Motors Company is rapidly expanding its electric vehicle lineup, which includes cars like the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and GMC Hummer EV, all of which reached customers' driveways last year. Customers can currently charge at stations all over the country, including Tesla's Supercharger network if they have the correct NACS adapter, but GM wants to expand its own network to compete with the expansive Ford BlueOval Charge Network, and the company announced that it's using artificial intelligence (AI) to help find the best spots for the new locations.

General Motors Company is utilizing artificial intelligence to find predictive analytics, along with geospatial algorithms, to analyze the traffic patterns of electric vehicle drivers. It's pretty straightforward. The algorithm also evaluates traffic flow and the proximity of nearby charging stations. This will help the company identify the best locations for installing its new charging stations. And it's already doing just that.
GM is developing a strategy to integrate various battery types for electric vehicles, aiming to lower expenses while enhancing power and range, thereby optimizing performance.
General Motors is collaborating with EVGo, a leading charging network in the country, to establish 2,850 public charging stations, which will encompass 400 fast-charging stations in key urban areas throughout the United States. These fast-charging stations will be equipped with 350-kW chargers and designed with pull-through access for user-friendly convenience. Additionally, the majority of these stations will include overhangs and enhanced lighting to ensure safety and ease of use.

In addition to partnering with EVGo, GM is collaborating with Pilot Travel Centers to establish charging stations. They aim to install nearly 2,000 DC fast charging stations across around 500 Pilot and Flying J travel centers throughout the country. According to GM, slightly more than 100 of these locations are already up and running. The entire network of 5,000 planned charging sites has been strategically mapped using artificial intelligence.
