You’ve most likely played Skyrim to death, I get it.
That’s a boat that many of us find ourselves in and yet that certainly doesn’t stop me from crawling back to this Bethesda masterpiece.
There’s something about Skyrim’s open world that just, as cheesy as it sounds, feels like home.
If I don’t want to think too hard, it’s a chance to step into somewhere that’s wholly familiar, but that’s not to say I’m against any sense of newness in Skyrim.
It goes without saying that as much of a comfort blanket Skyrim is to many of us, it’s fun to switch up the formula from time to time - which PC players can do with the assistance of mods.
And it’s a mod by NexusMods user TheBawb that I want to highlight today as ‘Warden of the Coast’ is a DLC-sized adventure inspired by the likes of BioWare’s Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises.
Mass Effect fans will also want to keep an eye on Exodus, an upcoming sci-fi RPG.
In "Warden of the Coast," you will embark on a journey to a remote island where your mission is to prevent a daedric lord from regaining power. Your quest involves sealing the “jaws of Oblivion” once again, all while forging strong bonds with nine loyal companions along the way.
Similar to what you experience in BioWare games, every companion features a loyalty quest that you won't want to overlook. Additionally, you have the option to select up to three companions to join you on significant missions and while exploring.
Additionally, players can engage in seven romance quests and explore five different mod endings, which are influenced by their decisions throughout the game.
Overall, 'Warden of the Coast' offers approximately 10 to 15 hours of gameplay. The mod features complete voice acting, boasting 9,000 lines of dialogue performed by 27 talented voice actors.
Your companions will respond to your actions, including your eliminations and decisions, and you might find yourself needing to bring them back to life in the heat of battle.
As you can probably tell, this isn't just any ordinary mod. This is a massive undertaking that truly merits every bit of recognition it gets.
‘Warden of the Coast’ unfolds in two fresh world spaces, encompassing a total of 19 new interior locations.
If you're still not convinced by now, I honestly struggle to grasp the reason behind it.
PC gamers can access 'Warden of the Coast' at no cost by visiting NexusMods.
