"Although I may encounter new experiences, I've had so many akin to them that the thrill I once felt in my youth and inexperience has faded."

Though life certainly doesn't stop after your 20s, it's not uncommon to reminisce about what your life was like when you were younger. Recently, Redditor u/ThatMuslimGamer asked the older adults of the Reddit community to share what they miss the most about their 20s, and the answers were honest and a bit poignant:

2. "It felt as though the entire future was mine to explore. The unfiltered optimism of the '90s."

3. "My physical fitness has changed significantly over the years. There was a time when I could run daily—both in the mornings and after my job. On weekends, after completing my early runs, I would often play tennis with my roommate or bike the eight miles to the mall (this was back in 1978). Nowadays, I find contentment in walking just over three miles on the treadmill."

14. "Honestly, just how new everything felt. In my 20s, even mundane, everyday things felt exciting since I was doing them for the first time. Life felt so vibrant, shiny, and new. Now, everything has no real novelty. Even if I do come across a new experience, I've had so many similar ones that I don't feel the same excitement as when I was young and less experienced."

15. "Resting peacefully all night long."

16. "Avoiding the label of being an elderly individual."

17. "Individuals focusing on their own lives without allowing politics to define their entire identity."

18. "Exchanging letters with friends."

19. Finally: "Immortality. Intellectually, I understood that everyone eventually faces death, but emotionally, the concept of dying felt distant and irrelevant. It wasn’t something I contemplated; neither were disabilities or long-term illnesses. Then, quite unexpectedly, the reality hit me. I was around 31 or 32 at the time. I pondered death briefly, then returned to my everyday life. Yet, I often claim that I experienced a sense of immortality, for there was a time when I truly felt invincible."
