In a blunt rotation straight from hell, Mark Zuckerberg recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience and said that society, and the corporate world, have been “neutered”.
On the January 10 episode of the podcast, the CEO of Meta shared his thoughts with Rogan, expressing that he believes “much of the corporate world lacks cultural vitality.” He emphasized that he views masculine energy as “positive,” adding, “I feel that corporate culture has been making efforts to distance itself from it.”
"All these types of energy are beneficial, and I believe that fostering a culture that embraces a bit more aggression has its own valuable advantages," he went on to say. "Engaging in activities with my buddies where we can roughhouse a little is really enjoyable. It's a positive experience."
When Rogan inquired of Zuckerberg about the timing of this transition, given his remarks on the previously “hyper aggressive” corporate culture, the CEO retreated slightly, stating that “the intention behind all these actions is positive.”
"He mentioned that for women entering a corporate environment, it often seems overly masculine. 'The atmosphere may lack the vibrant energy that women typically bring. It's essential for women to thrive and for organizations to harness the full potential of talented individuals, regardless of their gender or background,' he stated."
“I believe we've culturally shifted towards a viewpoint that suggests, ‘Masculinity is harmful and must be eliminated entirely,’” Zuckerberg remarked. “But that’s not the case. Both feminine and masculine energies have their value. Different segments of society will naturally emphasize one over the other, and that's perfectly fine. However, I do feel that corporate culture has leaned towards a more subdued and less assertive approach.” He also pointed out that this trend isn't limited to the business realm, stating that society as a whole has become increasingly “neutered or emasculated.”

This week, Meta has revealed updates that enable users to specifically target transgender individuals while also removing messaging themes related to transgender and nonbinary identities.
Not sure if Zuckerberg is experiencing the same corporate America as the rest of us, but a September 2024 report on the state of women in corporate environments found that 40% of working women have experienced sexual harassment in their careers. The report also found that only four in 10 men under 30 support prioritizing gender and racial diversity, compared to half of young men in 2019.
But none of this should necessarily be surprising from Zuckerberg, who recently announced a policy change that significantly loosened the restrictions on what is considered hate speech on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Several tech news outlets also obtained training materials for moderators based on the new rules, and found specific examples of speech that is now allowed under the policy change, including “Trans people are freaks” and “There’s no such thing as trans children.” According to the New York Times, facility managers at Meta’s offices in Silicon Valley, Texas, and New York were also reportedly ordered to remove tampons from men’s bathrooms.
